Join us!

Hello, dear reader!

If you're reading this, then our guess is you're not a member of the BCS, but you've had a quick browse through our website, like the look of some of the things that we do (in our calendar and photo gallery) and would like to know more about us and who we are.

The BCS community consists mainly of people of Chinese background and those with an interest in our culture and community. Many of us were born and grew up in Britain but we also have active members from China, Hong Kong, South East Asia and other parts of the world. Our members are mostly aged 21 upwards and may work in environments where opportunities to meet other British Chinese can be limited.

Still interested, but wondering how to join us? Well, you can do a number of things:

  • You can start attending some of our upcoming events. Most BCS events are open to the public, but we've found that many first-timers particularly like to start off by attending Dinner Date events. If you are a first timer, let us know it's your first time when you book by email. We will definitely make sure someone is waiting to give you a friendly welcome, especially if you're coming by yourself!
  • You can become a paid-up member of the BCS. There are a number of benefits we give to our members, which are described in more detail below.
  • You can become a BCS volunteer. If you can spare a little free time, and would enjoy being part of a team helping us devise or organise social events, then click here for more information.
BCS Membership

If you intend to attend BCS events on a relatively regular basis, or if you just wish to support the aims of our society, then why not become a fully paid-up member? It costs 12 a year and gives you the following benefits:

  • Discounts to many BCS events (up to 5 off per event)
  • Preferred status when booking places for BCS events, many of which can be over-subscribed. BCS special offers such as free tickets to shows/exhibitions are restricted to paid-up members, as is entry to any of our free prize competitions.
  • Regular bulletins and advance notice of events by email.
  • Members are directly consulted and democratically decide on BCS matters such as charity recipients and the election of new executive members. If you are member, you have a say in how the society is run.

All this for just £12 a year! If you'd like to become a BCS member send us an email and we will give you all the necessary instructions
