Lawrence was born and bred in Leicestershire before moving south working as a pharmacist. He now works in a Central London teaching hospital specialising in HIV/GUM.

Over the years he has tried various dancing styles, when he has had the time, and is currently participating in Argentine Tango - freestyle.

Lawrence is such an expert at dancing he advises the judges on Strictly Come Dancing on how to deliver their witty and incisive put-downs
