"The Crown Room"
The festivities began with everyone meeting in the lavishly decorated
"Crown room" reception.
The dulcet tones of the traditional Chinese musical instrument,
the guzheng, welcomed guests as they arrived.
With a drink in hand, guests were able to mingle, meet new friends
or marvel at the close-up tricks perfomed by the evening's magician
before waiting to be called to dinner.

Dinner
"Ladies and gentlemen, dinner is served!" came
the cry.
Hungry guests moved into the large dining room, where they took
their places according to the seating plan.
Each table, bearing a name of a city in China, was decorated with
flowers and welcomed each diner with a menu and programme, together
with a catalogue from one of the prize sponsors, Shanghai Tang.

Casino
After dinner, it was time to relax. After a magic show that entertained
the seated guests, it was then back to the Crown Room, where a charity
casino had been setup for guests to enjoy the spinning wheel of
roulette or try their hand at blackjack.
All proceeds from the charity casino and raffle went as a donation
to CIAC.
